87-year-old British woman gets scooter thanks to kindness of strangers

Date

87-year-old Molly Hutchins was hobbling through Stevenage on her walking frame when she was spotted by passer-by, Alan Bas.

She said she didn’t have enough money for an electric scooter even though her frame clearly wasn’t sufficient for her frail condition.

Alan posted the video to his Facebook page and a fundraiser was set up online.

It didn’t take long to reach the £2000 (roughly $3700) target and Molly soon had a brand new mobility scooter for long trips through town.

On local radio, Molly said she is delighted she can now carry heavy loads and travel further to places like the bank.

She also expressed her surprise for her newfound celebrity status in Stevenage. Naturally, Molly was gracious for the difference total strangers had made to her life.
